Safeguarding Cadastral Plan Intellectual Property

A Robust Digital Rights Management Framework

This project, being undertaken by Uni SQ, is a comprehensive overview of the planning and strategies for implementing Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Licence in a digital portal designed for cadastral plans. It explores the current practice, identifies gaps, and outlines the necessary modules and protection mechanisms to ensure secure and compliant access to cadastral data. The project also focuses on protecting digital models, downloaded files (PDFs and GIS formats), and implementing persistent protection strategies.

The proposed project aims to develop a DRM model tailored for a cloud-based digital portal. This model will provide secure access to cadastral plans and survey models while implementing a robust DRM framework. The portal, envisioned as a separate entity, will enable users to search for cadastral data, select specific parcels, initiate payments, and securely download digital files in formats such as PDFs and GIS-compatible formats. The key objectives of the project include ensuring secure access to cadastral models, protecting downloaded files, and enabling compliance with licensing policies.
